Our publishing house
Les Éditions Las Casitas is an independent publishing house specialising in teaching resources for learning French as a foreign language. Our aim is to make French accessible through clear, step-by-step books that learners and teachers can use straight away.
We design books that combine plain explanations, varied exercises and digital material, to support independent and effective learning. Every title is built to develop practical skills in comprehension, pronunciation, grammar, spelling and writing.
Drawing on both French and Colombian cultures, Les Éditions Las Casitas seeks to build a bridge between languages and cultures. We believe that learning a language also means discovering a way of thinking, of communicating, and of understanding the world a little better.

Frédéric Veau
Lead author — teacher of French as a foreign language and of French-language literature
An online teacher of French as a foreign language and a lecturer in French-language literature and cultures at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) in Colombia, Frédéric Veau has been teaching French to learners from all backgrounds for several years.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Literature and Languages from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, combining solid academic training with hands-on experience gained in France and Colombia.
Passionate about French language teaching, phonetics and educational technology, he designs teaching methods that make learning French simpler, more concrete and more accessible. He is also the author of several French-language teaching books for learners and teachers.
Edga Mireya Uribe Salamanca
Author — full professor, PhD in language teaching
Edga Mireya Uribe Salamanca is a full professor at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), in the School of Languages, which she headed six times (2004-2007 and 2015-2021). She holds a PhD in language and culture teaching from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, a master’s degree in teaching French as a foreign language from the Universidad del Rosario (Colombia), a postgraduate qualification in university teaching (UIS), and a degree in languages (Spanish, French and English) from the same university.
She coordinates the DILECPOLE early-career research group (teaching of languages and cultures and their linguistic and educational policies), attached to the GLOTTA research group (UIS), and was a member of DILTEC (research unit for the teaching of languages, texts and cultures) at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle.
Twice elected to the UIS academic council (2014-2015 and 2021-2025), she is actively involved in promoting plurilingualism, intercultural exchange and the French-speaking world in Colombia. She is a member of CIPIF (collective for plurilingualism, intercultural exchange and the French-speaking world), as well as of several networks: EnRedELE (Red de Español como Lengua Extranjera en Colombia, the Spanish-as-a-foreign-language network in Colombia, hosted by ASCUN — Asociación Colombiana de Universidades), FIPF (international federation of French teachers) and ACOLPROF (Asociación Colombiana de Profesores de Francés, the Colombian association of French teachers, which also has an affiliated space on the FIPF network and an Instagram account). She served as its vice-president from 2022 to 2024 and is currently its president for the 2024-2026 term.
She co-authored the 2022 and 2024 editions of the Cartografía de la enseñanza del francés en Colombia, a reference work for analysing the linguistic and educational policies surrounding French teaching in the country. She is also an accredited DELE examiner (Instituto Cervantes) and a Chevalier of the Ordre des Palmes académiques.
