XXIX National Congress of the Colombian Association of French Teachers (ACOLPROF)

The Colombian Association of French Teachers (ACOLPROF), in partnership with the School of Languages of the University of Antioquia and with the support of the French Embassy in Colombia, the Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (COPALC) and the International Federation of French Teachers (FIPF), are honoured to announce the XXIX National Congress of Acolprof. The event will take place on 20 and 21 August 2026 on the main campus of the University of Antioquia, in Medellín. This XXIX congress carries particular weight in 2026, as it offers a privileged space for
dialogue, reflection and exchange among French teachers from every setting (universities, state and private schools, language institutes, Alliances Françaises), teacher trainers and researchers in French language teaching, as well as students — the French teachers of tomorrow — from across the
country. The University of Antioquia is delighted to host the congress after several decades without an Acolprof event in Medellín. By bringing together varied experiences, drawn from research as much as from teaching placements and significant classroom practice, the congress strengthens the academic and professional training of teachers, trainers, researchers, future teachers and early-career researchers. It is a space where the
different players in education share their work on the teaching of and research into French in our country. This collective setting encourages not only the exchange of knowledge and innovative practice, but also the building of lasting collaboration networks, essential to the development of French language teaching in Colombia and to French as a cultural, academic and professional asset. In that light, the event fits into current linguistic and educational policy, supporting plurilingualism and consolidating the place of French and other languages in the national education system.
