This policy sets out what data the editionslascasitas.com website collects and how it is used.
Data collected
The site collects no personal data without your knowledge. The only information passed on is what you give us willingly: your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and the content of your messages if you write to us.
Newsletter
Your address is used solely to send you our new releases and advice. It is neither sold nor passed to third parties. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
Audience measurement and cookies
We only want to know how many people read our pages, which ones interest them, and how they found us. Two systems coexist, and they do not follow the same rules.
Google Analytics — subject to your consent
This Google service sets audience-measurement cookies. They are only set after you have consented, through the banner shown on your first visit. You can accept or decline just as easily either way, and change your mind at any time through the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of the page. If you decline, no Google cookie is written and your browsing is not transmitted. Your choice itself is stored in a first-party cookie for at most thirteen months, so that you are not asked again on every visit. The site uses no advertising or profiling cookies.
Our own counter — hosted by us, IP address retained
We also keep our own statistics, using a tool written for this site and running on our own server: no data is passed to any third party, not to Google, not to anyone. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared, nothing feeds advertising.
We record: the page viewed, the time, the site or search engine you came from, your browser, your operating system, your screen size, your browser language, the time spent and how far down the page you read.
We retain your IP address, along with the host name and internet provider that go with it. We do so to know how many different people read us, to tell a reader from a robot, and to understand where our audience comes from — the country and city of connection. That address is used only for these statistics and for the security of the site; it is never cross-referenced with anything else you may have given us, nor passed to anyone.
This processing rests on our legitimate interest in knowing our site’s traffic and protecting it. It therefore does not fall under the exemption granted by the French data protection authority for strictly anonymous audience measurement: we inform you of it here, and you may object to it at any time (see just below).
Two first-party cookies may be added, but only if you accepted the banner: lcs_v, holding a randomly drawn number that lets us recognise a returning visitor, kept for at most thirteen months; and lcs_s, which groups the pages of a single visit and expires after thirty minutes of inactivity. Neither holds any information about you, and neither can follow you onto another site. If you decline the banner, neither cookie is set.
Geolocation relies first on tables already held on our server: in the vast majority of cases no outside request is needed. When an address is not listed, or the information is more than five months old, our server — never your browser — passes it to the ip-api.com service, which returns the country and city. Only the IP address is sent, with nothing about you or the pages you view. The answer is stored in our tables, so the same address is not looked up again for five months. Location never goes finer than the city.
Visit details — including the IP address — are kept for at most twenty-five months, then erased. Only daily totals remain, holding no individual data at all.
Opting out entirely
If you would rather appear in none of our statistics, simply say so here. Your choice is stored in a cookie on your device; if you clear your cookies or change browser, you will need to renew it.
Server logs and security
Separately from audience measurement, the server keeps technical logs (IP address, date and time, pages viewed) to ensure the site runs correctly and stays secure (preventing abuse, detecting attacks). This processing rests on our legitimate interest in protecting the site; it is not subject to your consent and cannot be switched off. These logs are kept for a limited period (up to twelve months) and then deleted.
